Begin in Bucharest, the elegant capital known as “Little Paris”, where highlights include the Village Museum, Romanian Athenaeum, and the monumental Palace of Parliament. Continue to the medieval city of BraÈ™ov, rich in Gothic charm and shaped by Romanian, Hungarian, German, and Bulgarian heritage.

Visit the stunning PeleÈ™ Castle, once the summer residence of Romania’s royal family, renowned for its richly decorated interiors. Explore the iconic Bran Castle, forever linked to the legend of Count Dracula, and step back in time in SighiÈ™oara, a UNESCO-listed medieval town with cobbled streets, towers, and ornate churches.

Descend underground to the remarkable Turda Salt Mine, transformed into a unique modern attraction, and experience the vibrant cultural life of Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania’s unofficial capital. Intercontinental Athenee Palace Hotel

Set in the heart of Bucharest in one of the city’s iconic buildings, located next to the Athenaeum. All of the spacious guest rooms feature en suite bathroom, flat-screen TV and tea/coffee making facilties. The restaurant serves a good range of national and international dishes. Buffet Breakfast is also available daily. The English Bar offers a wide selection of cocktails and old whiskies.
Car parking is available at the Hotel.

Car Hire

Standard car hire is included in the tour cost, offering convenience and flexibility throughout your journey. Vehicles are subject to availability at the time of booking, and prices are based on 2026 rates plus an estimated increase for 2027 (subject to change).

Your car hire includes unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (excess applies), Theft Protection Waiver (excess applies), local sales taxes, airport surcharges and fees, roadside assistance, third-party liability insurance, and an initial tank of fuel (to be returned full). Fuel beyond the initial tank is not included.

​

When collecting your vehicle, a credit card will be required to cover a refundable deposit of approximately €300. An insurance excess of €1,400 applies; this amount will not be pre-authorised or held on your card but represents the maximum payable in the event of damage or a claim. We recommend arranging Excess Cover insurance through your insurer or a third party for additional peace of mind.

Flights

All our tour prices are quoted excluding flights. This allows you the flexibility to choose your preferred departure date, airport, or even use frequent flyer points or upgrades.

If you would like, we can provide a quote including flights. Flight-inclusive packages are arranged for Scenic Car Tours by our sister company, Success Tours (ATOL No. 5114).

Please be aware that flight costs are estimated at the time of booking, and any changes to fares once flights go on sale may result in a flight supplement.

Fees & Insurance

When you collect your hire car you will asked for a credit card to cover a deposit of approx. 300 Euros. in addition there is an Insurance excess of 1400 Euros. The Excess Payment will not be taken or held on your card, although a credit card will still be required for security. In the case of a claim, this is the maximum amount you will have to pay towards the overall cost of any claim in the case of an accident or damage to the vehicle. We therefore recommend that you take out a Excess Cover Policy from your insurer or a third party to cover this amount.
